In Odisha, at the time of pandemic like the corona, is spreading and destroying many lives. During covid-19 pandemic which child is losing their father and mother and orphaned by this loss of life and which child is losing only their father or mother. With this in mind, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik has announced a new scheme called Ashirwad Yojana. Eligible children in the scheme are divided into three categories.


Which children will be eligible for the scheme?


Children who have lost both their parents, their mothers or their main beneficiaries on or after April 1, 2020. Those children will be considered eligible.

If the child is adopted, the child will not be able get this benefit.

About Ashirwad Yojana in Odisha

Under the scheme, more emphasis is placed on educating, nurturing and caring for children. The Chief Minister also directed that special attention be paid to ensure that no child is left out of the scheme.

Benefits of Ashirwad Yojana

According to the scheme, Rs 2,500 will be deposited monthly for the child’s welfare, education and health in the bank account of the relatives who have lost their parents and taken care of the children in distress. In addition, ₹ 1,500 children who have lost their main beneficiary father or mother will be sent directly to the bank account. This will continue until the child is 18 years old.


Under the Biju Health Welfare Scheme or Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, these children can get free medical treatment. Children who need this special care will be included in the National or State Food Security Scheme. So that they can also get food. Parents can continue their education at the school where the child attended before the death of the parents. In addition, the children have been included in various welfare schemes of the state government.
